Private Hill Top Course
Private Hill Top Bike Park Coaching
Want to improve your jumping in a purpose-built bike park without the pressure of keeping pace with a public group?
Private Hill Top coaching gives us the freedom to build the session entirely around your current ability, confidence and goals.
From pumping and take-off technique through to larger table tops, we can spend the time where you need it most and progress only when your technique is ready.
A bike park built for progression
Hill Top Bike Park offers a range of table top jumps from Blue through to Black-level features, making it a brilliant environment for structured jump progression. The advantage of private coaching is that we do not need to follow a fixed group programme. We can work on the exact part of your jumping that is currently holding you back.
Your pace
Progress through features when you are ready rather than feeling pressured to follow another rider.
Your technique
Spend more time refining the movements that will make the biggest difference to your riding.
Your confidence
Build confidence gradually using suitable features and clear progression.
Your goals
Whether you want to clear your first table top or become more consistent on larger jumps, the session can be built around you.
What will we work on?
Before progressing onto jumps, we make sure the foundations are in place. The exact balance of the session depends on your current riding and what you want to achieve.
Body Position
Good jumping starts with a strong, balanced position that allows you to move freely with the bike.
- Stable approach position
- Weight through the feet
- Relaxed upper body
- Strong range of movement
- Staying centred on the bike
Pump Technique
Pumping teaches you how to load and unload the bike, which directly feeds into good jump technique.
- Compression
- Extension
- Timing
- Using rollers effectively
- Generating speed without pedalling
Dynamic Movement
Jumping well requires movement rather than stiffness.
- Bike and body separation
- Loading and unloading
- Using arms and legs independently
- Maintaining range of movement
- Staying relaxed through the feature
Take-Off Technique
We help you understand how to create lift through timing and movement rather than simply pulling on the handlebars.
- Approach speed
- Loading the bike
- Timing the extension
- Following the shape of the take-off
- Keeping the bike balanced
Flight & Landing
Clearing the jump is only part of the technique.
- Staying relaxed in the air
- Keeping the bike balanced
- Looking towards the landing
- Matching the landing angle
- Absorbing the impact
Progression
Once the technique is working consistently, we can begin applying it to larger features.
- Building speed gradually
- Feature selection
- Consistency before size
- Reading take-offs and landings
- Progressing through Hill Top's jump lines
Video feedback included
Sometimes what you think you are doing on the bike and what is actually happening can be very different.
We use video feedback and demonstrations during our coaching sessions to help you see your technique and understand exactly where adjustments can be made. [oai_citation:2‡SkillsLoop](https://www.skillsloop.com/collections/skillsloop-mountain-bike-courses/products/private-cornering-course-copy)
See it. Understand it. Change it.
Video feedback is especially useful for jump coaching because small differences in timing and body position can be difficult to feel while you are riding.
Get your bike working with you
Before we hit the jumps, we will check over your bike and your body position to make sure the fundamentals are in place. [oai_citation:3‡SkillsLoop](https://www.skillsloop.com/collections/skillsloop-mountain-bike-courses/products/private-cornering-course-copy)
Tyre pressure, suspension balance, rebound and cockpit setup can all affect how predictable the bike feels through compressions, take-offs and landings.
Get your bike dialled before your coaching day
Our SkillsLoop Bike Setup Tool gives you personalised setup starting points based on you, your bike and your riding.
It covers tyre pressure, suspension, rebound, compression, cockpit setup, brake lever position, bar width and more.
Arrive with the bike closer to where it needs to be and spend more of your coaching time concentrating on your jumping.
Try the Bike Setup ToolIs private Hill Top coaching right for me?
This course could be ideal if you:
- Want to learn how to jump properly
- Are already jumping but struggle with consistency
- Feel stiff or nervous on take-offs
- Regularly land nose-heavy or rear-heavy
- Struggle to clear table tops consistently
- Want to progress onto larger jump lines
- Prefer private coaching rather than a public group
- Want detailed feedback on your individual technique
Private coaching means genuine flexibility
Every rider arrives with different experience.
Some riders need to spend more time understanding pumping and dynamic movement. Others already have good foundations and want to focus almost entirely on jump consistency or larger features.
Private coaching lets us adapt as the session develops rather than trying to squeeze you into a fixed lesson plan.
Half day or full day?
Half Day
A focused session ideal for concentrating on one or two key areas of your jumping.
10:00am – 1:00pm
Full Day
More time for detailed technique work, repetition and progressive movement through Hill Top's different features.
10:00am – 3:00pm
Includes a short break.
Which should I choose?
If there is one particular area you want to work on, a half day can be a great option.
If you want to develop your technique from the foundations through to larger jump progression, the full day gives us much more time for repetition and progression.
