Burlish Coaching Course
Burlish Bike Park Coaching
Want to improve your jumps and drops in a purpose-built bike park environment? Our Burlish coaching courses are designed to help you build stronger technique, better timing and more confidence as your wheels leave the ground.
With Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced options available, we can help you progress from your first small table tops through to larger jumps and gaps, depending on your riding level.
Progress at your level
Jump progression is not about simply going faster or moving onto the biggest feature as quickly as possible.
We concentrate on giving you the technique and understanding needed to make your riding more controlled and repeatable. Your coach will only move you onto larger features when your riding shows that you are ready.
Understand the technique
Learn what your body and bike should be doing through the approach, take-off, flight and landing.
Build confidence
Start on appropriate features and progress at a pace that matches your skill level.
Improve consistency
Work towards making your jumps and drops feel controlled and repeatable rather than relying on luck.
Professional feedback
Get individual coaching and adjustments throughout the session to help you understand where improvements can be made.
Choose your level
Beginner
The start of your journey towards getting those wheels off the ground with more confidence.
We begin with the foundations before progressing onto small, beginner-friendly table tops.
- Body position
- Pump technique
- Bunny hop foundations
- Jump technique
- Drop technique
- Roll-in technique
- Small table top progression
You do not need to already be able to bunny hop. Understanding the movement can, however, really help your jump progression.
Intermediate
Already getting your wheels off the ground but want to progress your technique and confidence?
Intermediate sessions build on the same foundations as the Beginner course, then progress towards larger features as your technique allows.
- Jump technique refinement
- Better take-off timing
- Pump and dynamic movement
- Larger table tops
- Drop progression
- Gap jumps where appropriate
Advanced
For riders who are already jumping confidently but want to refine technique and progress onto larger features.
The emphasis is on improving consistency, movement and control rather than simply going bigger.
- Advanced jump technique
- Larger table tops
- Gap jumps
- Take-off timing
- Bike control in the air
- Landing control
What to expect on the day
Bike check
Before we get started, we will have a quick look over your bike and identify any obvious setup issues that could affect your confidence or technique.
Tyre pressure, suspension and cockpit setup can all make a significant difference when jumping and riding drops.
Get your bike dialled before your course
A balanced bike gives you a much better platform for learning jumps and drops.
Our SkillsLoop Bike Setup Tool gives you personalised starting points for tyre pressures, suspension, rebound, cockpit setup, brake lever position and more.
Get your bike closer before the course and arrive ready to concentrate on your riding.
Try the Bike Setup ToolFoundations first
We start by looking at body position, movement and how you load and unload the bike.
These foundations sit behind both good jump technique and confident drop technique.
Pump and bunny hop movement
Pumping and bunny hop movements help develop the timing, range of movement and bike control used when jumping.
Jump progression
We start on features that are suitable for your ability and progressively build things up as your technique and confidence improve.
Drops and roll-ins
Depending on the level of the course, we can also work on different drop and roll-in techniques, helping you understand when and why to use each approach.
Your progression comes first
Your safety is our number one priority.
Your coach will only progress you onto a larger feature when they feel your technique and control are ready.
Sometimes that means spending longer on a smaller jump to improve a specific part of your riding. That is not a failure, it is part of good progression.
Building strong technique on smaller features usually makes progressing onto bigger features much easier and safer.
